Tunisian Nightclub Shut Down After Track Sample With Muslim Call To Prayer

Tunisian authorities have closed down a nightclub and detained the manager for “violation against good morals and public outrage against modesty,” after British DJ Dax J played a track which featured samples of the Muslim call to prayer.

The event took place at the El Guitone nightclub, in Nabeul, a venue which was part of Orbit Festival, and also featured DVS1, La Fleur and Radio Slave.

The DJ’s Facebook page has since been closed down after he allegedly received death threats. Both himself and Orbit Festival have issued apologies regarding the incident.
