Pelvic thrusts, robots and mayhem in The Chemical Brothers’ new music video for ‘Free Yourself’

The Chemical Brothers have just shared the music video for their latest track, ‘Free Yourself’, their first original music release since 2016’s ‘C-h-e-m-i-c-a-l’. The new music video was made in collaboration with Dom&Nic, who have been working on projects with The Chemical Brothers for over two decades, and features some unsettling and humorous visuals of robots letting themselves get groovy on the dancefloor.

On the idea behind the music video for ‘Free Yourself’, Dom&Nic explained, “Why would artificial intelligence behave any different to humans discovering music and dance for the first time? We’ve all seen humans dancing brilliantly like robots, we’ve also seen robots dancing brilliantly like robots, but you’ve never seen robots dancing badly like humans.

The music video was worked on over the last eight months and is well worth the wait, it’s a six-minute-long robot party with impressive digital images and a quirky edge. ‘Free Yourself’ has already proved to be a highlight in the duo’s live sets at festivals across Europe this summer, and the track’s music video is just another feather in The Chemical Brothers’ proverbial cap.
