Mystery Soundcloud user posts “Early AFX Demos”

An illusive Soundcloud user, user487363530, has uploaded what appears to be a series of early Aphex Twin demos.

Aphex Twin, real name Richard James, is often associated with strange behaviour (living in a former HSBC building and driving a tank, for example), which may be why most seem to be taking this news with a pinch of salt.

The buzz surrounding the uploads is certainly sceptical, however several reliable sources, including the record label Planet Mu’s owner, Michael Paradinas, appear to have confirmed their validity.

A single comment was left by the Soundcloud user on Aphex Twin’s Diskhat ALL Prepared1mixed [snr2mix]. The comment states: “Would like to know the full setup for this track, brilliant music man. I love your early 90′s stuff so much, I was doing stuff in the early 90’s, similar to you but I didn’t know about you when I did it ! Im also 43 years old  I’m going to be uploading it to soundcloud soon, gotta dust off the old DAT’s & cassettes!”

Shortly after the comment was left, Aphex Twin himself replied with: “Beautiful stuff, would love to hear more”. Bizarre.

James’ 13 track EP Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 has just this week been released which is, of course, fuelling suspicion.

You can listen to some of the mysterious tracks via Soundcloud below. Before they’re removed, that is.
