(Cryptic) Interview with SHXCXCHCXSH

SHXCXCHCXSH are an experimental electronic duo formed in Norrköping, Sweden. Since 2012, the pair have been making waves with their own unique brand of texture-heavy, mysterious and dark industrial-techno. Shrouded in secrecy; Claoked-figures, grey, sunless imagery, and seemingly coded song titles – together, are the fundamental components needed for such an elusive conundrum.

Releasing an enigmatic sophomore album in 2014, titled Linear S Decoded, the duo then followed up with 2016’s SsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSsSs, casting a permanent shadow of refinery upon themselves, featuring even more grit-and-grime than their previous efforts.

We caught up with SHXCXCHCXSH for an exclusive interview – well, kind of. In their own cryptic language, we find out what’s next for the duo:

Breakdown the news for us: what can we expect from you this year?

We just started a record label, it’s called Rösten. The plan is to release projects of our own and from friends. The first two releases, Rösten 1 and Rösten 2 were both as SHXCXCHCXSH and will be performed on the night, among some older and perhaps even newer stuff. We also got a new studio in Berlin where we are working full time on new material. So, probably the flow of releases will be faster than it was past few years.

Catch SHXCXCHCXSH performing live on September 30th, at The Playground’s 10 Years / 10 Acts / 10 Hours Event, at The Steelyard, 13-16 Allhallows Lane, London
