As we draw ever closer to the release of Kavinsky’s debut album, and subsequently his album launch party on the 2nd March, the remixes for his first single ‘Protovision’ have began to surface. And first off the starting block is the prolific German producer Boys Noize, who has delivered possibly one of the greatest reworkings of his career.
Boys Noize has never been one to shy away from adding his own take onto other peoples work. Last year he released a remix album that covered work as varied as Kaiser Chiefs and Marilyn Manson, but this new take on the 80s infused electro track is unmistakably one of his own. Removing nearly all the nostalgic elements, Boys Noize has reworked this single into a full-on techno riot stomper. Coated richly in that glitchy electronic noise that we all love him for.
Although the remix has made the original ‘Protovision’ almost unrecognisable amongst all of Boys Noize’s production, the force and vicious undertones of the original remain to create a darker and much more forceful rendition.
