As the months have rolled on, we have seen a lot more producers being influenced by the underground hip-hop movement of late. Rappers are joining forces with producers at an alarming rate and the result is bringing a much more urban sound to the conventions of electronic dance music. So when TOKiMONSTA, a staple of leftfield beats in the States, joins forces with legendary MC Kool Keith, the finished article can only be intriguing to say the least.

TOKiMONSTA’s usual style of creating low tempo beats with haunting samples have earned her comparisons to Flying Lotus and Gold Panda, but with the addition of a vocalist, her production has become a lot more forceful. Both TOKiMONSTA and Kool Keith begin to fight for supremacy over this track to create a high-octane fusion of beats and rhymes that break away from the usual humdrum approach these collaborations usually have.

This is the first single TOKiMONSTA has released after signing a deal with Ultra Music, so if this is the kind of work that she is likely to do now, it seems she has moved to the right place.
