Record Store Day Launches ‘Vinyl Tuesday’

The American Association of Independent Music has launched weekly series now called ‘Vinyl Tuesdays‘.

Releases will include catalog , commercial and promotional, rare, Record Store Day exclusives and vinyl reissues and will be managed by the Dept of Record Stores/Record Store Day.

The association has stated:

Every Tuesday, participating retailers will celebrate by highlighting special-edition, catalogue, promotional, and new releases on vinyl. The goal is to maintain and grow physical retail while giving music fans more compelling reasons to support this important part of the music business community.”

Despite the fact the sale of Vinyl seems to be growing and the aim of this series is to maintain and promote this growth, FACT Magazine reported that “Record Store Day risks becoming more of a problem than a solution” and that “It has been heavily criticised by labels who suggest that they have been left behind“. An official launch date for Vinyl Tuesday has yet to be confirmed.
