This is BIG. Matador Records, home to many influential and incredible American bands, has announced their 21st birthday party in Las Vegas for 1 - 3 October.
The ridculously good lineup is headed by the recently reunited alt-kings Pavement, the invincible noise rock quartet Sonic Youth and the returning Scottish indie titans Belle & Sebastian. The big news though is another reformation: Guided By Voices in its classic '93 - '96 lineup.
If that wasn't breathtaking enough you've also got Spoon, The Jon Spencer Blues Exposion, Cat Power, Yo La Tengo, The New Pornographers, Superchunk, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Chavez, Girls, Fucked Up, Cold Cave, Shearwater, Kurt Vile and Harlem amongst others. And there's STILL some big names to be announced on 5th July.
Yes it's Las Vegas and it's far away but everyone has to experience Las Vegas once and isn't this the best excuse you'll ever have to go? I vote yes.
