Jake Chapman to direct monologueA Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer is a ground-breaking collection of monologues by world-renowned authors and playwrights, edited by Eve Ensler (author of The Vagina Monologues) and Mollie Doyle. Each diverse voice rises up in a collective roar to break open, expose, and examine the insidiousness of violence at all levels: brutality, neglect, a punch, even a put-down. The volume features such authors and topics as: Edward Albee on S&M; Maya Angelou on women’s work; Patricia Bosworth on her own physically abusive relationship; Jane Fonda on reclaiming our Mojo; and many more.
For one night only, there will be an inspired, crackling 90 minute performance featuring 5 - 10 monologues from the collection at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Produced by Lauren Prakke and Michelle Yue, directors so far engaged include contemporary artist Jake Chapman (of Jake and Dinos Chapman fame), Chris Dercon (Director of Tate Modern) and Iwona Blazwick OBE (Director of Whitechapel Gallery).
