Duke Dumont is probably the most likely cult producer to reach mainstream success in 2013. The end of last year saw the London-based producer release a small string of singles that took the underground by storm. When Annie Mac ended her set with his track ‘The Giver’ at the recent Bugged Out Weekender, the reaction from the crowd was a rapturous roar that shows great promise for the future of this soon-to-be household name.
But Duke Dumont has hardly been a secret until now. The producer has been the ‘go-to’ man to create dancefloor friendly remixes for some of world’s biggest pop artists, notably Lily Allen and Bat For Lashes, for a number of years. But as 2011 hit, Duke Dumont decided to up sticks from the city and move into his countryside studio in order to work on his solo material. His return from the wilderness came with it the single ‘The Giver’ and thus Duke Dumont was finally a name in his own right.
Since then, high-profile remixes for AlunaGeorge and Santigold, as well as follow-up single ‘Need U (100%)’ featuring fledging starlight A*M*E, have secured Duke Dumont as one of 2013’s most exciting new producers and he now plans to take this year by storm.
Duke Dumont will be spending February on the road as part of his ongoing promotional drive with a new EP or album surely on the way soon. Listen to his latest single ‘Need U (100%)’ below.
