From the depths of Cape Town, HAEZER is riding his signature sound on a wave which is likely to dominate our little Island. The sheer concept of electro trash can sometimes create a gagging reflex. Its complexity comes in the divide it creates in an audience, almost like the generation gap which comes hugely apparent when you introduce your parents to Dillon Francis. But there are no authoritarian warbles which you can clutch desperately to; neither is there the type of pumping house which suddenly evolves into something more evocative when you’re intoxicated. Electro trash diminishes the prototype of electronic music. Instead it brings out the genre’s darker side. It’s like the malign character in a feature film you love to hate. They’re always the most interesting anyway.
Although, this isn’t the first time the DJ’s showed his face within a very stifling industry. Since late 2008 he’s been the opening act for renowned artists such as Steve Aoki, as well as collaborated with Cyberpunkers and Saint Pauli on his debut single ‘Who the Fuck is HAEZER’. The Cyberpunkers remix of the track reached number five on Beatport’s top 100 dance chart.
Yesterday HAEZER released EP ‘Monkey’ through SHAX TRAX records, featuring a number of the track's remixes. Expect a boiling cess pot of dirty bassline and ominous electro house. But it's a track only for those that can stay clear of the networking site textbook.
