MIX: Hudson Mohawke Streams Ded Sec – Watch Dogs 2 Teaser

Glaswegian trap producer Hudson Mohawke recently dropped his new gaming single from forthcoming album, Watch Dogs 2, ahead of its release tomorrow on Warp Records. The clanging track, “Shaghaied,” emotively soars throughout its four-minute adrenaline fuelled duration, punctuated by thumping beats making for atmospheric listening and the perfect gaming score. It powerfully pulls the best elements of major pop players like Kanye West, Drake and Pusha T and heightens the stakes of chord progression.

Watch Dogs 2 is HudMo’s third album following last year’s Lantern and serves as a strong followup. It’s also the official soundtrack to Ubisoft video game Ded Sec—Watch Dogs 2, which is set in San Francisco and features main protagonist, hacker Marcus Holloway, as he teams up with the Dec Sec collective to dismantle a dodgy operating system controlling the city’s infrastructure. As the producer noted upon sharing alternate track “Play N Go” yesterday (which in our opinion is not quite as stunning, but judge for yourselves), the game “has a parody [of new President Elect Donald] Trump and [pharmaceutical entrepreneur Martin] Shkreli” in it. “Picked a hell of a week to move to the US,” he added.

Listen to this roaring single from the album, also called ‘Shanghaied’ below, as well as the not as memorable ‘Play n Go.’ Following the album’s release tomorrow, the video arrives on November 15th. Mowhawke has definitely upped his ‘game’ here, and we look forward to experiencing the full album.
