May 68
...and Manchester's resurgence continues. Not content with the likes of Delphic and the electro heartbeat events like the Warehouse Project have revived,
May68 take up where the power pop of the The Gossip left off and give it a snarling, Mancunian makeover.
Ballsy in all the right places, there's shades of Friendly Fires funk and the sassy feminine snap of The Long Blondes but for the most part, May68 capture all the hedonistic dance sensibilities that gave the city its illustrious heyday by themselves. The second coming? On this evidence, yeah.
The Hype:
The Fly - "More infectious than Swine Flu and fierce enough to drive La Roux and Little Boots to full-blown commercial suicide."
Citylife - "The perfect synthesis of giddy pop euphoria and dancefloor disco sensibility."
